copyrightJune 2009: World's leading Biomass Centre chooses Idhammar

VVBGC* purchases Idhammar MMS for improved control and reliability.

For greater flexibilty and improved ability to monitor the Värnamo plant, VVBGC (Växjö Värnamo Biomass Gasification Centre) is currently in the process of migrating data from the site's old CMMS into the Idhammar MMS.

At Värnamo, the IGCC concept has been developed to demonstrate power generation using fossil fuels as feedstock. The main features include the possibility of cleaning the gas (from impurities) under pressure, before the gas enters the combustion section of the gas turbine - resulting in relatively high electrical efficiency. Higher efficiencies also mean respectivley lower emissions. On the basis of these considerations, in 1991 Sydkraft AB decided to build a wood fuelled co-generation demonstration plant at Värnamo, Sweden, to demonstrate the technology. The Värnamo plant was the first of its kind in the World. The plant is designed to generate 6 MW of electricity and 9 MW of heat for district heating.

Reliable and preventive maintenance is crucial to the plant and the Idhammar MMS will support the engineers to achieve the highest standards of maintenance.
Idhammar Systems actively supports environmental research and is delighted to be working with VVBGC.

*VVBGC is a Research & Demonstration centre for collaborative research and demonstration projects, including: Gasification of biomass, Feeding systems, Hot gas cleaning, IGCC, GT, Syngas upgrading, Catalyst research, BTL processes, and H2 for fuel cells.
